Angels are coming!
Be An Angel is dedicated to the memory of Roberta Zipperer, a 30-year child well-being advocate who started the program in 2013 to ensure that older children in foster care receive gifts during the holiday season. Typical toy drives meet the needs of much younger children, and youth in foster care ages 10-17 are less likely to have a “traditional” holiday experience without the support of our community. That’s where you come in.
FSS has collected the holiday “wishes” from hundreds of Jacksonville kids currently in foster care. They are looking for individuals, families and businesses to be angels to these kids for the holidays.
If you’d like more information on the program, or want to contribute individually, visit the website, beanangeljax.org, and choose the youth whose holidays you want to brighten in 2018. The website allows you to choose a child and click on links to buy their gifts directly, or to just donate a dollar amount and FSS will purchase the gift for you. They are also very committed to organizing groups of people through churches and businesses to adopt several kids and their wishes, so if you have a group, and are interested please contact firstname.lastname@example.org directly.
